What we fix on the Switch

  • Joy-Con drift — the stick moves on its own; we repair or replace the module. See also controller repair.
  • Cracked screen — touch glass or panel, including Switch OLED.
  • USB-C charging port — the console won’t charge or charges poorly.
  • Won’t power on, overheating, dock HDMI port, cartridge reader and battery.

We pinpoint the exact cause at the free diagnostic. Curious about price? See how much does a repair cost.

Every Switch model

Nintendo Switch (original and 2019 model), Switch Lite and Switch OLED. Joy-Con drift is by far the most requested repair — we fix the self-moving stick for good. Game console repair also covers PS5 and Xbox. Same-day service available for many common repairs, depending on model, parts and damage.

Frequently asked questions

Why Joy-Cons drift — and how we fix it

Drift comes from wear on the analog stick’s sensor: over time, the Joy-Con sends movement even when nobody is touching the stick. Cleaning sometimes helps for a few days, but the problem comes back. In the workshop we open the Joy-Con, replace the stick module, reassemble the shell and recalibrate the controller in the console settings — on the left Joy-Con as well as the right.

Before concluding it is drift, we also check the attachment rail and the wireless connection: a Joy-Con that disconnects or is no longer recognized once attached to the console is a different fault, often linked to the rail or its ribbon cable, and it is repaired differently.

Switch, Switch Lite and Switch OLED screens: what changes

On the original Switch and the Switch Lite, the touch glass and the LCD panel are usually two separate parts: a shattered glass with a display that still works is often repaired by replacing the glass alone. On the Switch OLED, the panel and the glass form one bonded unit, and a break usually means replacing the whole assembly. In every case the diagnostic is free and you get the quote before we touch the console.

A screen that stays black while the console powers on, vertical lines, touch that no longer responds: three symptoms that do not lead to the same part. We tell them apart at the diagnostic rather than replacing the screen blindly.

Switch won’t charge: USB-C port, battery or dock?

A Switch that only charges at a certain angle, gets warm around the port or is no longer recognized by the dock often has a worn USB-C port or bent pins; it is replaced by micro-soldering directly on the motherboard. When the console drains very fast or shuts off suddenly, the battery is the more likely cause. And if everything works in handheld mode but nothing shows on the TV, we check the dock and its HDMI port first. The free diagnostic sorts out the three before the quote.

Ship it to Nintendo or get it repaired in Montreal?

The official repair service works by mail: you ship the console and wait for it to come back. At Sub Tech Repairs, you walk in with the Switch at 757 Rue Beaubien Est, one minute from Beaubien metro, open 7 days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The diagnostic is free, the quote is clear before any work, the repair is covered by a 1-year warranty, and same-day service available for many common repairs, depending on the model, parts availability and the damage found. A Joy-Con, screen or charging-port repair does not touch your save data.

Nintendo Switch 2 repair in Montreal

We repair the Nintendo Switch 2: screen, Joy-Con 2 controllers, battery, USB-C port and charging or dock-connection problems, alongside the Switch, Switch OLED and Switch Lite. Free diagnostic, firm quote before any work and a 1-year warranty, on site at 757 Rue Beaubien Est.
