The symptoms that usually point to the board

What board-level repair actually involves

There is no mystery to it β€” it is equipment, schematics and patience:

  1. Inspection under a stereo microscope. We look for corrosion, lifted components and burnt traces before anything is powered on.
  2. Measurement instead of guesswork. Current draw on a bench supply, read against the board’s schematic, tells us which rail has failed β€” narrowing a whole board to a single component.
  3. Component-level replacement. Hot air, flux and a fine-tip iron to lift the failed part and fit a new one, often a chip a couple of millimetres across.
  4. Trace repair where it’s needed. Corrosion eats the copper pathways between components; those get rebuilt by hand under magnification.
  5. Verification before it leaves. The device is reassembled and run through a full boot, charge and signal cycle.
