Four iPhone generations: what matters for the repair
These four generations, released from 2014 to 2017, share the same basics: a 4.7-inch screen (5.5-inch on Plus models), a Home button with Touch ID and a Lightning port. The big difference is on the back: the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have a glass back, compatible with wireless charging, while the 7, 6s and 6 have an aluminum back.
None of them gets new versions of iOS anymore: the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus stopped at iOS 16, the 7 and 6s (and their Plus versions) at iOS 15, and the 6 and 6 Plus at iOS 12. Apple still occasionally publishes security fixes for the 8, 7 and 6s (iOS 16.7.16 and 15.8.8 in May 2026), but none for the 6 and 6 Plus since iOS 12.5.7, in January 2023.
The eight models, from the 6 to the 8 Plus
To recognize yours, look at the back: a glass back means an iPhone 8 or 8 Plus; two cameras mean a 7 Plus or 8 Plus; an “S” under the word iPhone means a 6s or 6s Plus.
iPhone 8 Plus repair
5.5-inch screen, two cameras, glass back and wireless charging. Launched in 2017 with the iPhone 8, it stopped at iOS 16.

iPhone 7 repair

Common repairs, from the 6 to the 8 Plus
Broken screen and Touch ID
Screen replacement from $39, plus tax, often in 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the model and parts in stock. On these models, the Home button and its Touch ID sensor are paired to the phone: we move them to the new screen with care. We also check 3D Touch (6s, 7 and 8); on the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, keeping True Tone depends on the screen selected. To learn more: replacing an iPhone screen.
Worn battery, slow phone
Battery replacement from $29, plus tax, often in 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the model and parts in stock. Battery health has been shown in Settings › Battery since iOS 11.3. According to Apple, a worn battery can lead iOS to limit performance on these models to avoid unexpected shutdowns: many “too slow” iPhone 7 or 8 phones get their speed back with a new battery. Apple’s Parts and Service History doesn’t cover the battery on these models: no unknown-part notice. The right time to replace the battery.
Lightning port and headphone jack
The Lightning port gets clogged over the years: we inspect and clean it before suggesting a replacement, from $39, plus tax. On the 6 and 6s, the port shares its flex cable with the headphone jack: sound cutting out in your earphones is checked at the same time. Read: why an iPhone stops charging.
Back glass (iPhone 8 and 8 Plus)
Only the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus have a glass back; we change it, then make sure wireless charging works. See back glass repair.
Camera, speaker, microphone
From $29, plus tax, often in 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the model and parts in stock. The second camera on the 7 Plus and 8 Plus is a telephoto: photos blurry only when zoomed point to it.
Contact with water
The iPhone 7 and 8 are rated IP67, but Apple notes that this protection wears down; the 6 and 6s have no official rating. A wet iPhone shouldn’t be charged: switch it off and drop it off with us. We attempt data recovery on site, with micro-soldering if needed: see data recovery.
Before switching phones: backup and transfer
Before any repair, an iCloud or computer backup remains a good habit. And to move photos, contacts and messages to a new iPhone, follow our iPhone data transfer guide.
Once your data is safe, you can also offer us the old device: sell your device.
Is it worth repairing an iPhone 8, 7 or 6 in 2026?
It depends on how you use it. As a backup phone, a child’s first phone or a music player, a low-cost battery or screen can be worth it. We don’t recommend them for banking, though, and the 6 and 6 Plus, with no security fixes, aren’t suited to a child. As a main phone, these models no longer get new iOS versions: a big repair is rarely money well spent.

Do you still repair the iPhone 6 and iPhone 7?
Yes, as long as parts are available: battery, screen or charging port, mainly. The diagnostic is free, and we tell you whether the repair makes sense for your use.
Does Touch ID stay active when the screen of an iPhone 8, 7 or 6 is replaced?
Yes, provided the original Home button is in good shape. That button is paired to your phone: we move it to the new screen, then check your fingerprint with you.

The iPhone 8 and 8 Plus stopped at iOS 16; the iPhone 7, 7 Plus, 6s and 6s Plus at iOS 15; the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus at iOS 12. Only the 8, 7 and 6s still get occasional security fixes.

It’s worth a try: we work on site, with micro-soldering, and the diagnostic is free. If it got wet, don’t charge it before bringing it in.
